Aboriginal Healing Foundation
June 22, 2010
To all community members,
The Aboriginal Healing Foundation (AHF) project is coming to an end on June 30, 2010. AHF has generously funded the Native Women Shelter of Montreal’s (NWSM) "Moving Toward the 7th Generation" project since 2000 and has been responsible for the presence of many of the core resources available here at the NWSM, including workshops, activities, outings and resource people.
As part of the requirements of AHF we have been asked to organize a closing ceremony. This will take place at the end of June, 2010 and will be available to clients and employees of the NWSM.
Wind-down activities to signal the termination of the project to our clientele have already been carried out. These activities included workshops with clients to help them become aware of where to find similar services outside the Shelter. Festivities were held to celebrate the project and the positive things it has brought to the community. All activities aimed to prepare clients who previously received regular services for the eventual termination of these services as of July 1, 2010.
Regarding those services provided by volunteers, we hope that such things will carry on after the project's termination. We will take all steps necessary in order to guarantee that the volunteers continue to be coordinated by the Shelter and its frontline workers so that their invaluable services remain available for our clients.
I thank you for your understanding and your willingness to work with us toward preparing the Shelter and our clientele for the termination of this project. If you have any questions or concerns please, do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Carrie Martin
Evaluation Coordinator
